This book is an amazing resource for anyone teaching water concepts in the classroom. The demonstrations and activities provided in the book allow an instructor to integrate active hands on learning into the classrooms. I have been using the book since it came out and have observed that my students grasp concepts much more quickly by incorporating the demos from the book. This book is a must for everyone teaching water related subjects!!!!!

A BIOGRAPHICAL TRIUMPH

This is one of the best biographies I have ever read. Donald Spoto encapsulates Marilyn Monroe's entire life in this one book and more importantly he backs up everything with spot-on documentation. He addresses all the supposed eye-witness accounts, rumors and innuendos which have corrupted this woman's reputation for decades. Spoto not only acts as one heck of an investigative journalist but he gives us invaluable insights into human behavior. I hated to put this book down.... Thank you, Mr. Spoto for this magnificent piece of work. I wish we had known the truth a lot sooner.

Spoto's biography delivers

It is hard to imagine the kind of painstaking research that went into creating this comprehensive work of exquisite detail. Spoto not only captures the unique essence of MM's engaging personality, he includes the minutiae of her life experiences to such a degree that even someone who did not grow up surrounded by her iridescent image would feel a part of this era. Especially interesting are the intricate details of her early life, which would later so greatly affect her vulnerable psyche.

Unfortunately, what put me off were the conclusions he draws regarding the controversial circumstances of her death. He offers some bizarre theories, apparently of his own supposition, based on less than concrete evidence and woven to fit unanswered questions. You may find his theories plausible; you may find them ridiculous. Although he does argue a somewhat convincing case, I have never seen or heard of any other documentation that would support these claims. I believe the only real conclusion to be drawn is that we will never fully answer all the questions surrounding the mystery of her death.

This is the story of a very special lady, a lost and deeply lonely little girl who would reach her whole life for an intangible dream of fulfillment that would slip again and again through her fingers. This comprensive work does well in capturing the spirit of that struggle, and those who exploited it. Judge for yourself the validity of Spoto's allegations. Beyond that, you will find this a thorough and engrossing portrayal of our most luminous screen goddess.

Why this book is different

This book does a fascinating exploration of the MM's death. Spoto believes that Mrs. Murray, the housekeeper, gave the edema that ended MM's life; she was following Dr. Greenson's orders. That's why Mrs. Murray was washing the sheets when the police arrived--to destory the evidence. This made sense to me and I've read every possible account of her death. Of course, the coverup still occurred to protect any vulnerable politicians (and we know who they are, don't we?). That's also why Dr. Greenson and John Minor went on record saying that MM did NOT committ suicide. This book does only present MM's press agent, Pat Newcomb, and her version of the events, but it's still fascinating. I highly recommend this one for a different account of MM's death. This version seems logical to me: a horrible and tragic accident.
